Required Pre-season Orientation & Evaluation:
Everyone must attend one basketball evaluation. Evaluations are an opportunity for us to orient new and returning families to the new season of Upward Sports. Basketball evaluations consist of a few basic drills for children to do. We do these so every child obtains a rank and your child will be matched with evenly ranked players so that an inexperienced player will never play a child with 6 years experience. It also keeps it challenging for those children with skills who want to play equally matched players. This is one of the many reasons Upward Sports is so popular.
Evaluations for 5th-9th grade players are now more in depth and will also require a mini scrimmage to better assess skill level and to help balance out teams yet provide a challenging atmosphere. We know that for a handful of families this will require two evaluation nights and for that we apologize but we are looking for an exceptional player experience and feel that the more in depth evaluations will help prevent skill imbalances in teams. Come dressed to play ball! There will be start times instead of the drop in schedule we are used to. With a small over lap of the first group finishing up in the gym while the second group is registering and uniform sizing. Please note the very tight evaluation schedule and plan accordingly.
